Even if nothing is left, I would like to see how my house is now

(by Mr. Takeshi Yamagata, fisherman, at an evacuee’s hotel in a hot spring town in Fukushima Prefecture)
The tsunami hit when I was about three kilometers away from the coast taking my fishing boat offshore to prevent my boat from being swept away. My wife was washed away together with my house. I could go look for her had it not been for the nuclear power accident. She would have wanted to be found too. Even if there is nothing left, nothing to recover, still I‘d like to see myself how my house is now.
